Six year anniversary for familiar face to leaseholders


This week, congratulations are in order for our Leasehold Accounts Co-ordinator Nigel Lambert who celebrates six years working at Block Management UK Ltd.


Nigel (seen standing with Finance Director Paul Mather) joined us in 2013 to oversee the creation of our in-house credit control department. The role has now developed to include accounts payable and receivable, buildings insurance, direct debit set up and solicitors' enquiries.

Before joining Block Management UK Ltd, Nigel worked for the contact centre services provider Prolog, managing thousands of customer interactions a week.  Holding qualifications in BT's Meridian and Symposium systems, he had extensive experience in customer relations, call centre management and training development for large scale multi-channel contact centres.

Nigel’s name is well-known to our leaseholders as his department sends out welcome packs to new leaseholders and assists leaseholders with their responsibilities.

As well as maintaining the share register for Companies House for annual returns, the department also handles solicitor's sales for new leaseholders. This includes issuing receipted notice of assignment, share / membership certificate and certificates of compliance etc. All of these are  required by solicitors to register new owners with the Land Registry. The department also typically issues service charge budgets for properties' funds for the year in advance, ground rent demands and insurance demands. The department also sends referral instructions for arrears to solicitors to collect.


Credit control is an important part of this department and of the business of a block management company. The non-payment of ground rent for example, needs to be handled diplomatically, fairly and along clear guidelines. To this end, Nigel brought a high level of customer service to our company as call centres typically have rigid customer service guidelines and regular/daily feedback sessions. It's allowed our accounts team to be a more confident, customer-facing part of the company.
